To make the move go easier, there are a number of things you can do to prepare for the experience

First of all do not leave anything to the last minute! This is not the time to procrastinate. Make arrangements as early as possible for everything that must be done. This also means letting all essential people in your life know when you are planning to move, as well as finding out about insurance and banking needs. This includes getting estimates from movers well in advance and then hiring the ones that are the best fit.

Moving tips and advice will vary depending on the distance of your move. There are different things to consider depending on how far you have to relocate to. Some may think long distance moves are tougher, but the truth is there are stressful aspects of both moves. Furthermore, you have to take into account what you are moving. If this is only your first move from your parents home, you will probably only have a few pieces of furniture to take with you. If you are younger or single, there is less to lug on the trip, however, if you are married with a few children, you are going to have four or five people to move, plus a household of furniture. They may need to be withdrawn from their current school and enrolled in a new one therefore you may want to discuss the move and the social aspects of the move with your child afterall its their move as well. You may have large items to deal with and you will need equipment like a piano dolly in addition to the usual moving boxes. Equipment like piano dollies will be expensive to purchase. Regardless of how far you are moving, you may find yourself suffering from stress during the experience.

Moving with your dogs or cats can be just as hard on them as it is on you. The familiar routine of their lives is disrupted and can get anxious and car sick. You might want to get them use to being in the car and find out if your pet gets car sick. Take your dog in the car for small test runs at first, to the grocery store or the bank and see how they act. Most dogs enjoy being in the car and those that dont generally will lay on the floor of the car happy to not see the sights. If your test drives reveal a cat or dog that gets car sick you should take your pet to the vet for any medication for motion sickness that is safe to give your pet on moving day and plan to make pit stops for fresh air and potty breaks to help their stomachs stay settled.

Some other important things to consider if your move is going to be successful: You need to know whether or not you can adjust in the place you are planning to move. You should also verify the credibility of your mover or moving company. In addition to concerns about equipment and distance, there are a variety of arrangements you will have to deal with just prior to and following the move. Auto shipping requires careful consideration. Youll need a company you can count on which is fully transparent, a company which provides online tracking that lets you view where your vehicle is at all times. Having full 24/7 customer support also helps. Finally, apart from dealing with the social aspects in your childs move, you will need to consider your own social needs. If you move far away from your previous location it may be difficult to keep in touch with friends and family so you may have to make an extra effort to keep in touch with your old friends, and you will need to make an effort to make new friends. This can be stressful too, but in the long run, the efforts you make concerning your move will help you create a better quality of life.
